Like, "wish you were here". I don't "wish you were here". I don't even wish I was there. I "wish" in order to be content with you, we were both mentally somewhere else and physically somewhere unimaginable.
I don't really know the difference between a euphemism and just being plainly insincere but I mean the above genuinely and have meant the above genuinely before and will probably mean it again.

related to a simple "i miss you" would have sufficed
